Duties & Responsibilities:

ABC 7 (WVII-TV)/Fox 22 (WFVX-TV) in Bangor, ME is looking for a part-time News Production Assistant.

The news production assistant role is integral to the process of getting our daily news broadcasts on the air by either operating our studio cameras or audio interface as well as editing news content in preparation for air. This person, when on camera-duty will operate studio cameras and act as the “stage manager” in the studio, working to provide smooth communication between the director and talent. When working as audio technician this person will be conducting thorough mic checks (adjusting level, gain, and EQ as needed) as well as controlling which sources are “hot”, tracking music and segments, and ensuring our audio output falls in the -6db to 0db range ideal for broadcasting. The production assistant will also be expected to use news field gear to shoot video as needed.

In this position you get experience with just about everything there is to do in news. This is an entry-level position with much opportunity for upward mobility in the company.

Requirements & Skills:

In summation, the different responsibilities you may have as news production assistant are:

Operating studio cameras.
Operating cameras in field for on-location broadcast.
Maintaining order on the studio floor and acting to ensure good communication between talent and technical director.
Operating audio interface.
Editing video and news graphics using Grass Valley Edius and Adobe Creative Suite.
Shoot video in the field and gather sound for broadcasts.
