SUPPORTING THOSE IN NEED OF HEATING ASSISTANCE
Joining forces again with Partners Bank and United Way of Southern Maine in fundraising campaign.
PORTLAND, ME, December 1, 2023 – Channel 8 WMTW continues its commitment to the community by helping neighbors in need this winter season. Starting December 5th, each newscast of MAINE’S TOTAL COVERAGE will bring viewers stories on ways to save money on heating costs and encourage viewers to donate to Channel 8’s Heat Week at https://uwsme.org/heatweek/.
Channel 8 will wrap up Heat Week with a day-long telethon on Thursday, December 7th starting at 5AM. Viewers can call 833-972-2105 to donate. Donations to Channel 8’s Heat Week will provide emergency heating assistance in the communities Partner’s Bank serves in Maine and New Hampshire.
“Every year, thousands are faced with choosing between heating their homes and basic needs like food and medicine. So once again, we are proud to join forces with Partners Bank on this important effort,” said Dave Abel, WMTW President & General Manager.
Partners Bank is generously donating $150,000 to Heat Week through the Keep ME Warm fund with a challenge to match up to $50,000 in donations made during the telethon or through their website, https://www.partners.bank.
Keep ME Warm provides emergency heating assistance through a statewide partnership of United Way of Maine and Community Action Agencies.
